About Simone

simone foodHaving been born with the surname ‘Food’ one could say this was fate at its most obvious, for I was interested in exactly that – food.

My fascination in Nutrition began when I was 10 years old after emigrating with my parents from the UK to South Africa .   I began a journey of discovering the kaleidoscope of delicious fresh fruit and vegetable juices, along with the varieties of freshly caught fish cooked simply on the Braai. The tantalising spicy dishes with rice and the colourful array of crunchy salads all encouraged my ever growing love of food. I decided to experiment with it by learning simple cooking techniques from many of the new people I was meeting.

During my early student years I developed a few personal health challenges which then led to my further interest with nutrition.  I was asked to consider taking medication for seizures that I had begun to experience, which led to my decision to seek an alternative method in treating the condition.  I researched information on nutrition and supplementation for this problem, and after experimentation managed to stop the seizures completely.  I also found that my energy levels and mental clarity had improved too.

This was the spark that then led me into 3 years of formal study at the renowned Institute of Optimum Nutrition in London, gaining a foundation degree in Nutrition. I am currently a registered member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy – BANT (for more information refer to www.bant.org.uk)

Along this journey I have also gained a practitioners qualification in Neuro linguistic Programming (NLP) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) which is often used during my consultations where appropriate.  However, if I feel you may need a full consultation in one of these specific areas I would discuss this with you during our initial meeting.

My experience

I have recently worked with Dr Marilyn Glenville (UK’s leading nutritionist in women’s health) at the Tunbridge Wells Clinic and the Natural Health Practice.  I was mainly working with clients who have osteoporosis, menopausal symptoms, eating disorders and high stress / anxiety related issues. I keep continually updated by attending nutritional seminars throughout the year and learning about new food and recipe techniques (such as Raw Food Diets) and to develop a comprehensive knowledge of nutritional supplements and herbal remedies so that they can be used effectively during my clinical protocols.
